Why Your Support Matters
NEPAL FLOOD FACTS:
• August 26, 2026: A catastrophic flash flood struck northern Nepal near the Nepal-Tibet border.
• The disaster was triggered by a glacier/ice-and-rock collapse, sending an enormous surge of water, mud, and debris down the river valley.
• Hundreds of people have died and thousands are missing across Nepal and Tibet; current reports put the combined death toll near 600 (and counting).
• More thank 90,000 people are estimated to be affected and in need of assistance.
• Entire communities have been swept away, while homes, roads, bridges, schools, healthcare facilities, power infrastructure and communications networks have been destroyed or damaged.
• The hardest hit areas include Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading.
• Search and rescue operations are ongoing, but damaged roads and infrastructure have made reaching remote communities extremely difficult.
